Pre-seed: $2M-$6M caps

Most pre-seed rounds today are done on SAFEs with valuation caps. The typical range is $2M to $6M depending on team quality and traction. A technical founder with domain expertise raising $500K on a $4M cap is standard. A first-time founder with an idea and no prototype might see a $2M cap.

Seed: $8M-$20M

Seed valuations have widened. Strong teams with traction are getting $12M-$20M caps. The median seed round in 2026 is around $2.5M raised on a $15M post-money. But the range is wide and terms matter more than the headline number.

Series A: the metrics game
